China Seen Differently

A landscape to feel.
A place to understand.

The mountains west of Chengdu are the setting; the people who live among them give the journey its character. Follow the shift from the Sichuan basin into high-country landscapes, exploring Danba’s architecture and the valleys around Mount Siguniang. Walk, linger and keep the itinerary flexible enough for mountain weather.

Unveil Signature Experiences

The moments that make it yours.

Experiences designed around your private party, with the people, setting and pace chosen to suit you.

01

A village, through its buildings

Explore Danba with a local host, looking at how homes, towers and the landscape fit together. A hosted meal can turn an architectural visit into a conversation.

02

A mountain day that belongs to you

Choose a valley walk with a guide, a photographer or a natural-history focus. A removable picnic setup at an approved spot makes time to pause part of the experience.

03

The city-to-mountain send-off

Begin with a private Chengdu supper, then finish the trip with a slower city evening: a good room, a thoughtful meal and the option of one last night out.

Your final proposal confirms the hosts, locations, timing and inclusions of each signature experience.

A considered rhythm

The journey unfolds.

A suggested route, ready to become something personal. We shape the final sequence around your dates and interests.

  1. Chengdu
  2. Danba
  3. Mount Siguniang valleys
  4. Return to Chengdu
Days 1–2

Chengdu

Eat, settle in and explore the city at ground level. Meet your guide, shape the walking ambitions and leave the first evening open to a hosted meal or the queer scene.

Days 3–5

Danba

Travel west with purposeful breaks. Spend time with village architecture and regional food, with a hosted visit arranged around local availability and consent.

Days 6–8

Mount Siguniang valleys

Make a comfortable valley base. Choose between gentle walks and longer outings, with a flexible day for weather, rest or a second landscape.

Day 9

Return to Chengdu

Return with time to spare rather than rushing straight to a long-haul flight. A final meal and an easy departure complete the arc.

Stay a little longer. Add a second night back in Chengdu or a quieter lodge day; keep longer high-altitude extensions as a separate discussion.

The art of staying well

The right room.
The right sense of place.

A city hotel followed by carefully selected village or valley lodges. Prioritise setting, warmth, good bathrooms and hospitality; rural standards differ from five-star city hotels.

Tell us whether you want a shared king bed, separate rooms, a view to wake up to or a particular level of privacy. The details belong in the design from the beginning.

Travel with your people

Luxury that feels personal.

A private celebration, a good table for two, a local night out or simply the freedom to enjoy the journey together. Let us know what would make you feel most at home.

Before you go

Good journeys are well considered.

Pace & terrain

Several road transfers and altitude. Walking days are tailored to fitness and conditions; extra nights can soften the rhythm.

Things we plan around

This route stays in Sichuan and does not include the Tibet Autonomous Region. Confirm altitude, road conditions, accommodation and current local access before booking. For Tibet as well, explore Across the Tibetan Horizon.

Current reference: UNESCO: Sichuan Giant Panda Sanctuaries. Requirements and operations are rechecked for your dates.

A clear individual quote

Choose the stays, guiding, private transfers, intercity travel and experiences you want us to arrange. Your proposal names the booking and operating parties and sets out the price, inclusions and exclusions.

International flights, visas, permits, insurance, personal spending, ski equipment and lessons are included only where expressly listed. No payment or booking is confirmed by sending an enquiry.
