Chongqing has long been the blank spot on China’s gay map — a 30-million-strong mountain megacity with a scene that hides in plain sight. The One Star Rainbow Youth Hostel is the most promising answer yet: a three-floor, roughly 120-bed community hostel in the Liangjiang New Area that’s less about the bed and more about the people you’ll meet over it.
The heart of it is a 200m² common lounge running board-game and drinks nights, karaoke, group dinners and weekend hikes — plus a rooftop sky garden with the hills beyond. Dorm beds start from around ¥30 a night, with monthly stays advertised from about ¥450. Walkable from Huangnibang on Metro Line 6, and bookable on Meituan and Trip.com.
