In short: from late spring to early autumn, Europe becomes one rolling rainbow carnival. Here's the month-by-month bucket list — and how to chain a few into the trip you'll never stop talking about.

There is no party season on earth quite like a European summer of Pride. Whole cities hand themselves over to the cause: rainbow flags from every balcony, sound systems on the streets, and a giddy, defiant joy that's impossible to fake. If you've only ever done Pride at home, the European circuit is a revelation — bigger, bolder and unapologetically fun.

Late spring: the warm-up

The season opens as the weather turns. Keep an eye on the earlier Prides and the first big circuit weekends — smaller crowds, lower prices, and a city still buzzing with anticipation. It's the connoisseur's window.

For a few months, Europe stops apologising and starts dancing — and everyone's invited.

High summer: the headliners

Madrid Pride (Orgullo) is the continent's biggest, swallowing the Chueca district whole in late June and early July. Amsterdam Pride is unlike anything else on the planet — the parade floats down the canals on boats in early August. Add Cologne's enormous CSD, London, Berlin and the dance-music mecca of Circuit Festival Barcelona, and you've got a calendar that could swallow your whole summer. Confirm exact dates each year with the official organisers.

Beach Prides & late-season heat

As the cities cool, the party heads to the coast. Sitges keeps going strong, Brighton throws Britain's most beloved seaside Pride, and the Spanish islands stretch the season well into autumn. By November the torch passes to Maspalomas for a sun-soaked Winter Pride. The party, it turns out, never really stops.

Planning it from Asia

Long-haul fares are the big cost, so make them count: most of these cities are a short, cheap hop or train ride apart, so pair two or three into one trip — Madrid into Barcelona's Circuit, or Amsterdam into Cologne. Book accommodation the moment dates are confirmed; Pride weekends sell out months ahead and prices spike hard. A single Schengen visa covers most of the EU stops in one go.

Go prepared

These events are euphoric but enormous — crowds, queues and heat are part of the package. Hydrate, pace yourself, mind your belongings, and build in a recovery day before you fly home. Then come back and tell us which European Pride deserves the crown.

Dates, routes and venues change every year — always confirm with official sources before booking.
