This report details the findings of a comprehensive investigation into the burgeoning Chinese tourism market in Da Nang, Vietnam. Da Nang, with its stunning beaches, historical sites, and burgeoning infrastructure, has become a highly sought-after destination for Chinese travelers. This study aims to analyze the current state of Chinese tourism in Da Nang, examining its economic impact, the perceptions of both Chinese tourists and local residents, and potential future trends. Data was gathered through a mix of quantitative surveys (distributed to 300 Chinese tourists and 150 local residents in Da Nang) and qualitative interviews with key stakeholders, including hotel managers, tour operators, and government officials.

Economic Impacts: The influx of Chinese tourists has undeniably spurred economic growth in Da Nang. Our findings reveal a significant increase in revenue across various sectors. The hospitality industry, in particular, has experienced a remarkable boom. Hotels, resorts, and restaurants catering specifically to Chinese tourists have proliferated, leading to increased employment opportunities and higher tax revenues for the local government. Many businesses, from small street vendors to large-scale retailers, have adapted their services and offerings to cater to the preferences of Chinese tourists, leading to a diversification of products and services. The growth in the tourism sector has also indirectly boosted related industries such as transportation, construction, and entertainment. However, concerns remain regarding the sustainability of this growth, with potential issues like over-reliance on a single market and environmental pressures.

Chinese Tourist Perceptions: Our survey data revealed overwhelmingly positive feedback from Chinese tourists regarding their experience in Da Nang. The city’s scenic beauty, particularly My Khe Beach and Son Tra Peninsula, was consistently highlighted as a major draw. The relatively affordable prices compared to other Southeast Asian destinations were also frequently cited as a positive aspect. Many tourists appreciated the increasing accessibility of Mandarin-speaking staff in hotels and tourist attractions, demonstrating a growing effort to cater specifically to Chinese clientele. Furthermore, the relatively safe and clean environment was also praised. However, some criticisms were noted. A significant minority expressed concerns about the quality of some tourist services and the occasional lack of English-language signage, highlighting areas for improvement in infrastructure and service quality. The availability and quality of Chinese food options were also noted as a key factor influencing tourist satisfaction.

Local Perceptions: The views of local residents towards Chinese tourism are more nuanced.
