Today's vlog marks the culmination of a month-long adventure across China – a country so vast and diverse, it feels like traveling through multiple worlds in one trip. I've always been fascinated by China, its ancient history, its modern dynamism, and the sheer scale of its geographical and cultural landscapes. This journey aimed to capture just a sliver of that multifaceted beauty, and I'm so excited to share it with you.

Our journey began in Beijing, the imperial capital. The sheer magnitude of Tiananmen Square is breathtaking; standing there, you can truly feel the weight of history. We spent a day exploring the Forbidden City, marveling at the intricate architecture and imagining the lives of emperors past. The detail in the carvings, the vibrant colors, even the size of the courtyards – everything was awe-inspiring. Later, we climbed the Jingshan Park hill for a stunning panoramic view of the Forbidden City, a truly unforgettable experience. A must-try in Beijing? Definitely the Peking duck! We found a small, family-run restaurant that served the most delicious, crispy-skinned duck I’ve ever had. It was a world away from the tourist traps, a genuine taste of local Beijing life.

From the bustling capital, we took a high-speed train to Xi'an, the ancient heartland of China. The speed and efficiency of China's high-speed rail network is remarkable; it's a testament to their technological advancements. Xi'an is renowned for the Terracotta Army, and seeing those thousands of life-sized warriors standing in formation was truly humbling. The craftsmanship, the sheer scale of the project, and the historical significance – it's an experience that stays with you long after you leave. We also explored the ancient city walls, walked through the Muslim Quarter, savoring delicious street food like the spicy cumin lamb skewers, and visited the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, a significant Buddhist temple. Xi'an offered a fascinating blend of ancient history and modern city life, a perfect blend of the old and the new.

Next stop: Guilin and Yangshuo. This region is famous for its stunning karst landscape – those iconic, towering limestone peaks that rise dramatically from the rice paddies. We took a boat trip down the Li River, surrounded by breathtaking scenery. The emerald green water, the misty mountains, the quaint villages – it was truly idyllic. Yangshuo itself is a charming town, full of vibrant street art, local crafts, and delicious food. We hired bicycles and explored the countryside, cycling through picturesque villages and rice paddies, feeling a sense of peace and tranquility that's hard to find in bigger cities. I highly recommend a bamboo raft trip on the Yulong River; it was a wonderfully relaxing way to see the landscape from a different perspective.

Our journey continued to Shanghai, a dazzling metropolis that seamlessly blends its rich history with cutting-edge modernity. The Bund, with its colonial-era architecture lining the Huangpu River, is a stunning sight, especially at night when the city lights reflect on the water. We ascended the Shanghai Tower, the tallest building in China, for panoramic views of this incredible city. The sheer energy of Shanghai is infectious; it’s a city that never sleeps, always buzzing with activity. We explored the French Concession, a charming area with tree-lined streets and beautiful buildings, and ventured into the bustling markets, sampling local delicacies and experiencing the vibrant street life. We even managed to catch a traditional Chinese opera performance – a truly unique cultural experience.

Beyond the major cities, we also had the chance to experience some of China's rural charm. We visited a tea plantation in Hangzhou, learning about the process of tea cultivation and participating in a traditional tea ceremony. The rolling hills covered in lush green tea bushes were breathtaking. We also spent a day in a small village in the countryside, interacting with local farmers and experiencing a taste of authentic rural Chinese life. These experiences offered a valuable contrast to the fast-paced life of the cities, providing a deeper understanding of Chinese culture and its diverse lifestyles.

Throughout our journey, we encountered the incredible hospitality of the Chinese people. Despite the language barrier, we found people to be incredibly welcoming and helpful. Even with limited Mandarin, we were able to communicate through gestures and smiles, building connections with people from all walks of life. This genuine kindness and warmth were among the most memorable aspects of our trip.
