The report also revealed that the number of inbound tourists to China reached 77.34 million, an increase of 7.2% compared to 2000. In terms of revenue, the tourism industry generated a total of 362.5 billion yuan (approximately $44 billion), an increase of 12.5% compared to the previous year. Of this amount, domestic tourism accounted for 284.7 billion yuan, while inbound tourism contributed 77.8 billion yuan.

The report also highlights the growth of online tourism in China. In 2001, the number of Chinese internet users reached 33.8 million, and online travel booking platforms began to emerge. This development is expected to further drive the growth of China's tourism industry in the years to come.

Furthermore, the report notes the increasing popularity of rural tourism in China.
